I have grown to enjoy cooking a great deal over the years. My mother was a great teacher, but mostly with baking. I’m not totally sure where my interest for cooking developed, but it is more fun when you have someone else to cook for. I’ve never been good at making lovely meals for myself when alone.
I am one of those people who can think up random combinations of food that taste great. I don’t need recipes to cook, even though I do use them, I never seem to follow them exactly. My weak area of cooking has to be the grill. I just seem to suck at it, especially beef. I have eaten some really tough; over-cooked steak before.
I am a huge fan of delicious food and great wine. While Fort Collins has the most amount of restaurants per capita, there aren’t many that I would say are top notch. I have not eaten at Jay’s Bistro, or The Melting Pot, which are probably the most expensive restaurants in Fort Collins; I do recommend Enzio’s, as well as their sister restaurant Austin’s. Now Denver on the other hand; has the most amazing place I’ve ever seen. Beatrice & Woodsley has the greatest design atmosphere, along with fantastic wine. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the pleasure of dining there, but I did score a peak at their menu, and yes, I would take one of everything.
For great Asian cuisine I prefer Boulder’s Moongate Asian Bistro, great food, and fun atmosphere. Jeju is where I go for sushi in Fort collins; Tortilla Marissa’s for mexican; Rustic Oven for lunch; and Cafe Bluebird for breakfast. Now while some of these restaurant’s website leave something to be desired, I assure you, their food does not.
Another wonderful foody is Béa, the blogger, photographer, writer, cook, and new mommy.
The most delicious, wonderful, food photography I have ever experienced. I want everything she makes, even if I don’t care for some of the ingredients (which is rare) I still salivate over it. While I have tried my hand at some of my own food photography, I will admit I just don’t have the talent for it.
