I haven’t had any time for posting lately. I’ve been working hard and getting a lot done, but I’ve also spent a lot of time contemplating. My life has been shifting into a heightened sense of awareness, the path that is folding out before me is positive and exciting. I am taking full advantage of spending time with my son in these precious moments of his life which I will not be able to do over. He is growing so quickly and I love being able to watch him grow and become his own person. The stronger I can be, the stronger he will be. Even with all the struggles this has been the best year of my life.

I love working with New Belgium. What a fantastic and fun bunch of people. I am currently working on some new projects with them, to continue using their old shirt stock, for new products. We are approaching Tour de Fat season and there are now mustache bandanas and boas on display in the Liquid Center, swing on by if you’re a local!

Above: I have more knitting ideas, than time to knit. My wonderful mother got me Shirley Paden’s new book for Mother’s Day, Knitwear Design Workshop and it is amazing! I can’t wait to learn from everything Shirley has to offer. She has created some of the most beautiful knitwear that I have ever seen.
Below: I finished some socks this week for Whitney. These aren’t the final photos I want, but she will be in Austin, TX for a few days attending The Renegade Craft Fair: Austin.

Above: I just received my newest stash building addition. 10 skeins of Tahki Yarns New Tweed for more Urban Bandit headbands. They are all beautiful.
Below: Here is my lovely assortment of fresh herbs that I got, with basil, oregano, thyme, parsley, and chives. Still need to get from cilantro and dill, can’t wait!

I drive by these horses quite often and I never tire of seeing them. They are my favorite horses to see, and the closer to the road the better. They actually aren’t even very close to the road, but I happened to have my camera with me today and I have been telling myself for weeks that I would take photos. There is something so unique about paint horses, with their different patterns. If you look close enough in the last photo with the most horses you can see that there are even more horses in the distance. Those horses are actually in a different field, but they are all paints as well and sometimes you can see them better on the cross street. Altogether there might be a total of 20 or so, apparently with more on the way considering the new foal that is resting in the grass.
I love how all of the birds hang out with these horses. They go hand in hand for this particular group. I remember one day, many months ago, I was in a bit of a bad mood, and I drove up on these horses and saw 3 birds perched upon one horse’s back, it made me smile and feel completely happy. It’s funny how something so simple can change your mood. There is a bird perched on the back of the black horse in the second photo.
Mother & foal – Happy Mother’s Day!

This post is mostly about what is blooming and growing around my yard, with a little bit of knitting. I have realized that I not only have apple trees, I also have an apricot tree, a pear tree, plum or cherry, and grape vines. There are lilacs, roses, peonies and iris…I feel blessed. It is a beautiful day here today, I think I am going to go out and enjoy it.

I am proud and excited to announce that I have sold my first tangible item on Etsy. This past week was a good start for me, with a total of six sales. Five of them were for knitting patterns and the other was for the blue Urban Bandit headband which is now on its way to Australia. I was also featured for a second time in a treasury listing. Next step; front page! With more patterns to come, and hopefully more sales, I will surely get there.

What a fantastic day celebrating Parker’s second birthday! Watching him in his excitement about everything was hilarious. I love that he makes me laugh. Some of the things he says are so off-the-wall, I can’t help but crack up. He requested chocolate cake for the big day and his wish was granted with a 3-layer, homemade, chocolate soccer ball cake. The bright green coconut flakes (grass) and gummy worms were an added bonus, as well as the homemade Mango sorbet. It breaks my heart that my son can’t have ice cream. He has a bit of a diary issue, and unfortunately just a bite of ice cream is bad news for him. But he loves sorbet!

Of course there were many gifts but the top two contenders are: small bulldozer vs. step stool. If I had known a step stool was going to keep him so entertained I may have gotten one months ago. Before going to bed he tried to convince me that he should be allowed to sleep with the bulldozer in his bed.

He would have blown out candles all day if I had let him. The black frosting around his lips before eating cake, is because I just had to let him taste test first.

I’m quite sure that he loved the cake and sorbet. See for yourself.

Happy Birthday Parker, I love you so much!

It’s here! I am finally figuring my way around the “designer” knitting world. Creating patterns is not for the faint of heart. It is a pretty big process to complete, and do well. I am starting small and will be working my way up to larger garments, but for now this pattern is available on Ravelry as Urban Bandit. If you are on Ravelry, please favorite any of my work that appeals to you! Thanks.

I just realized that this picture makes Parker look like he’s training for boot camp. I made this backpack for him yesterday with a small piece of remnant fabric that was in my stash. It was only boyish print that I had, and I knew it was what I wanted to use when Whitney showed me the backpack she had made for Ray. The pattern is available at Indietutes and is so easy to make! I am hoping that this will be an item that Parker can understand is completely his, and can bring his own snacks, supplies, and toys with him wherever he goes.
