Frank & Martha
Author: adminApr 8
There is something comforting about the fact that these Mourning Doves grace our backyard on a daily basis. Many of you might think this is silly, but seeing them gives me so much happiness. What you might not understand is that Wellington, in our development is all new construction. We don’t have mature trees, or older growth which provide protection for all of the little birds and animals. There are no squirrels to speak of, the only regular birds we see are sparrows, and house finch. Until the Mourning Doves that we’ve named Frank and Martha. They joined our backyard frenzy (we do have a lot of the sparrows and finches because we put seed out for them) sometime after Christmas. They would come almost every day and usually just sit on the fence until they decided it was time to go elsewhere for the day. Then Martha stopped coming. Frank would come alone without his partner for months, until last week Martha returned. They are fun to watch even if they don’t really do anything, it’s just nice to know they like our yard. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the lone junco that came with our recent snowfall.
Open tweed cardigan

So happy with how this turned out. It took a lot more yarn than I had anticipated, and took me longer than it should have. The knit itself is very easy, but I don’t always have long periods of time to sit down and work. Stitching the whole garment together also took a while, but I wanted to do it right. The buttons are my favorite part. Wish me luck tonight at First Friday Fort Collins to sell it.

I am a little intimidated by the serger, but I read the manual, and learned how to thread this marvelous machine today. Soon I will be on my way to “fashion extraordinaire”.
