Frosty

Wellington actually got snow yesterday. It seems so odd that I live in Colorado, next to the Rocky Mountains, a vast skiing/snowboarding mecca, and had snow three times this year, for one day before melting away. That has its perks at times, but sometimes I also miss the snow to play in. Growing up as a kid in Vermont, we always had snow all winter long, with an awesome hill in the backyard to sled down. I think a lot about how I want Parker to grow up with snow. I suppose he had a few years to go before he can really play in it anyway. On that note; Justin and I shot some photos many months ago when everything was frost covered.

Knitting for charity.

Charity 1

I heard about this in a monthly newsletter that I receive and thought it was a wonderful idea. Knit an 8 x 8 square for patchwork blankets that go to children in Africa. Done. I plan to make more as well, and for anyone else interested, check out the Knit-A-Square website.

Craftastic

Thanks to the organizers of the Handmade Militia, I was proud to be part of the craft fair that was held at The Bean Cycle, and sponsored by Matter Bookstore on First Friday of this month. The event turned out great! There were definitely a lot of people that came through with a lot of great feedback. March is actually “Craft Month” and we all had our fair share of crafting on display. This is 90% of the reason I haven’t been blogging lately, I’ve been crazy busy trying to finish everything up. I took some photos at the event as well some of my own stuff. Now the crafting begins again because I’ll be trying to get ready for the next big show in May. Oh, and the other news, www.Woolibear.com, my website is in the making…more to come soon!

Seeds

I am excited to announce that I have started some of my seeds for this season’s garden. After weeks of waiting for them, and literally weeks, because I placed my order from Swallowtail Garden Seeds on February 7th and received them March 6th. Swallowtail is based out of California, and I originally found them months ago when searching for flower seeds and I found their website to be well laid out, their prices fair, and everything I was looking for. I ordered flower seeds with a few vegetable seeds back in September. When the time came to figure out what else I would need for the garden I went right back to them for my second order. With a confirmation email sent to me on February 14th I started to wonder why they hadn’t come in the mail a week later. So I went to the USPS link for my package to discover that it had left Denver on February 20th. “Great!” I thought, they will be here soon enough. They still hadn’t come a week later. So back to the USPS link to discover my package was in Springfield, MA. on February 28th. Wait, what? Um, Massachusetts is nowhere near Colorado last time I checked. Odd. So I called Swallowtail and the woman put me on hold for what felt like forever. When she finally gets back on the phone she says “Hello Jesska, I am going to have to take a look at what is going on here with your package because what the USPS website is telling me doesn’t make any sense.” To which I reply “You mean because it’s in Massachusetts?” Anyway, all time aside, they are here now, and quite a few of them have made it into their warm and cozy germination beds. Lets cross our fingers and hope for the best!
